Polling stations are open in Liguria (here are the voter turnout data, being updated) for the regional elections. According to the data provided by the Ministry of the Interior via the Eligendo website, and available on the Regione Liguria website, at 11pm, the turnout for the regional elections was 34.68%. As for the provinces' data, in the metropolitan city of Genoa 37.34% voted, in the province of Savona 31.55%, in the province of La Spezia 35.6%, in the province of Imperia 27.15%. In 2020, at the same time, 39.8 % had voted at regional level, while in the metropolitan city of Genoa 40.09 % had voted, in the province of Savona 41.18 %, in the province of La Spezia 39.47 %, in the province of Imperia 37.15 %.

Voting is on Sunday until 11pm and Monday from 7am to 3pm to elect the new regional council and Giovanni Toti's successor as president of the region after the judicial earthquake that began in May and led to the resignation of the outgoing governor. There are 1,341,799 Ligurian voters called to vote. On the turnout hangs the unknown factor of bad weather after an orange alert was issued for widespread rain and thunderstorms. The wave of bad weather has forced some areas to move polling stations to areas at risk.

Nine candidates in all, but the match is between Bucci and Orlando

The challenge is between the centre-right candidate Marco Bucci, current of Genoa, supported by seven lists (Fdi, Lega, Forza Italia, Udc, Alternativa popolare and the civic Orgoglio Liguria and Vince Liguria) and the centre-left candidate Andrea Orlando supported by six lists (Pd, Movimento 5 Stelle, Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra, Liguri a Testa Alta, Lista Andrea Orlando presidente, Patto Civico Riformista per Orlando). The last published polls recorded a head-to-head between the two. But there are also seven other candidates on the track: the former M5s Nicola Morra (United for Constituency), Alessandro Rosson (Independence! Alemanno per Rosson), Davide Felice (Forza del Popolo), Francesco Toscano (Democrazia Sovrana Popolare), Marco Giuseppe Ferrando (Partito Comunista dei Lavoratori), Nicola Rollando (Per l'Alternativa - Potere al Popolo! - Pci - Rifondazione Partito Comunista Sinistra Europea), Maria Antonietta Cella (People's Party of Northern Autonomy and Freedom).

How to vote

.

Five hundred and seventy regional councillor candidates. Voters must go to the polls with a valid identity document and voter card. It will be possible to express a maximum of two preferences of candidates belonging to the same list as long as they are of different gender, i.e. one man and one woman, but not two men and two women.

Disjunctive voting also possible

.

Disjunctive voting is possible by drawing a mark on the name of the presidential candidate and on the symbol of a list that does not support him/her. If the voter only casts a vote for one list, it will also automatically go to the linked presidential candidate.
