Maduro: 'Ready to talk to US about anti-drugs, oil and economic agreements'
Venezuelan president's television interview. "The US government knows this, because we have told many of its spokesmen"
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro declared himself 'ready' to discuss anti-drugs, oil, and economic agreements with Washington during a televised interview broadcast yesterday, in the midst of a crisis with the United States, which is exerting heavy pressure on his country through the deployment of warships in the Caribbean.
'The US government knows this, because we have told many of its spokesmen,' Maduro said. 'If they want to seriously discuss an agreement to fight drug trafficking, we are ready. If they want oil from Venezuela, Venezuela is ready for American investments, like with Chevron, when they want, where they want and how they want,' he told Vtv, also citing 'global economic development agreements'.
