The victory of the Melonian Francesco Acquaroli in the regional elections in the Marche will have an immediate effect at the national level: it will help unblock the centre-right's impasse over Veneto. Having cashed in on the encore of 'her' outgoing governor, Premier Giorgia Meloni can at this point give in more easily to the pressure of the League, which for weeks has been claiming continuity in the region administered for 15 years by 'doge' Luca Zaia. Despite the fact that Fdi has now become the first party in the region in the general and European elections. The green light for the candidate in pectore Alberto Stefani seems a matter of hours now.
Towards the go-ahead for Stefani in the Veneto
.It is not excluded that it could already be agreed at today's rally of the premier in Lamezia Terme, together with Antonio Tajani and Matteo Salvini to support Roberto Occhiuto's encore in Calabria. Even if Meloni, in order to leave Veneto to the League, needs a formal reassurance, possibly written, on a 'forthcoming rebalancing of the centre-right parties in the northern regions'. In short, a formula that suggests that Lombardy will go to Fdi.
Pending the vote in Calabria, the centre-right is therefore preparing to define the missing candidates. On that of Veneto (where the elections are scheduled for 23 and 24 November) there should be no surprises. Everyone thinks of Alberto Stefani, Salvini's deputy and secretary of the Liga Veneta. "Veneto can go very well to a candidate of the League," explained Tajani, ready to claim for FI the role of 'second force of the centre-right'. In the face of a League that in Valle d'Aosta collapses and in Marche worsens even compared to the European elections (from 8.2 to 7.4%), far from the 22.4% of the 2020 Regionals.
Di Bari in pole in Campania
.It is no coincidence that Forza Italia is putting two other proposals on the table: blue Flavio Tosi (who will be the leading candidate in the Regional elections) as the centre-right candidate for mayor of Verona; and a civic candidate as front runner in Campania. A solution, Tajani explains, to intercept ex DC and ex PSI: "There is discontent in the centre-left in Campania," Tajani assures, "because there is a shift to the left and we are ready to offer our symbol, our lists to those who want to choose to continue to be centrists and not to go for extreme left-wing politics. But that of the civic in Campania is an option rejected by the Campania Melonians, who are relaunching the race of Edmondo Cirielli, Tajani's deputy at Foreign Affairs. In pole position at the moment remains in Campania Michele Di Bari, prefect of Naples.
