Fratelli d'Italia at 27.4%, the leading party in the Marche region, leaves at a distance Forza Italia (8.6%), which overtakes a much downsized Lega (7.4%). The Pd loses but remains the first party in the coalition (at 22.5%) with a clear detachment from Giuseppe Conte's M5s at its worst result in five years (5.1%). Avs stops at 4.2%. This is the picture of the result of the main parties in the regional elections that saw in Marche the reconfirmation of the centre-right governor Francesco Acquaroli, who defeated the centre-left candidate Matteo Ricci.

Comparison with previous elections

.

At the last regional elections in 2020, the PD was the first party with 25.11%, followed by the League with 22.38% and Fdi at 18.66%. While M5s was at 7.12% and Forza Italia at 5.89%. In the politics of 2022 Fratelli d'Italia became the first party in the region with 29.14%, followed by the Pd with 20.37%. Third was the M5S with 13.58%. The League plummeted to 7.93% and Forza Italia rose to 6.78% with Avs at 3.33%. The situation was fairly stable in the European elections of 2024, with Fdi strengthening as the first party (32.9%) and Pd as second (25.5%). The M5s declined to 9.67%. Lega slightly up at 8.19% and Forza Italia at 7%.

The satisfaction of the centre-right

'Fratelli d'Italia emerges as the first party. This is an excellent result despite the scattering of civic lists. We have broken through the 27% mark,' said Arianna Meloni at a press conference in Francesco Acquaroli's electoral headquarters in Ancona. Vice-Premier Antonio Tajani and Matteo Salvini were satisfied. "To the insults and polemics of the left, the Marche people have given a clear answer: thank you," rejoiced Salvini, leader, however, of a shrunken League, which stopped below 8% after having reached 22.4% at the 2020 regional elections in Marche . "Fi was the protagonist of Acquaroli's victory, we are in a consolidated manner the second force of the centre-right," commented Fi's Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, leader of Fi, indirectly underlining the overtaking of the League.

Does not break through the wide field

.

"There is no alternative" to the progressive camp, armours the line of PD secretary Elly Schlein, who in turn promises: "The united effort continues with determination". But at the moment the broad camp is not perceived by voters as an alternative and M5S leader Giuseppe Conte points this out: 'We must take note that our proposal has not convinced'. But in the meantime Schlein wins the right to challenge Meloni for Palazzo Chigi with the Pd losing but remaining the first party in the coalition, with a clear break from Giuseppe Conte's M5S.
