On 23 and 24 November, voting will take place in Campania, Veneto and Apulia. The deadline is 12 noon on Saturday 25 October.
Key points
The game for the regional elections of 23 and 24 November in Campania, Apulia and Veneto is officially underway, with the first, classic fulfilment: the presentation of the lists. The deadline is 12 noon on Saturday 25 October. But already on the first day, most of the parties have deposited the lists of candidates at the Courts of the various provinces
Campania lists arrive
In Campania, there are eight lists supporting the centre-right candidature of Edmondo Cirielli, as well as those supporting the centre-left coalition candidate, Roberto Fico. The former Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano, Fdi's chief candidate, risked being left out of the elections: an error indicated that he was born on 6 June 1862, a full 163 years ago. Cirielli, who is running as chief candidate in his civic list, nominates a former colleague of his (Colonel Claudio Mazzarese Fardella Mungivera, deputy commander of the Carabinieri Corps in the Campania Region) and Angelo Pisani, Maradona's historic lawyer.
The lists
For Cirielli, there are four parties: FdI, FI, Lega and Noi Moderati, joined by the 'Cirielli Presidente' civic party, the Democrazia Cristiana list with Rotondi, Udc and Consumatori-Pensioneati. For Fico, along with the parties of the wide field - M5s, Pd, Avs - also the 'Fico Presidente' civic party, Noi di Centro-Noi Sud, headed by Clemente Mastella, 'A Testa alta', an emanation of outgoing president Vincenzo De Luca, Casa Riformista, which brings together Italia Viva, exponents of the civic world and associations, to which the mayor of Naples Gaetano Manfredi has also contributed, and the socialists with the 'Avanti Campania' list.
The 'children of art'
The Boccia case
Maria Rosaria Boccia (the Pompei businesswoman protagonist of the case that a year ago led to the resignation from the government of the former Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano) is a candidate in the Campania regional elections in the list that supports Stefano Bandecchi's candidature for the leadership of the Authority. Boccia is presenting herself, not as the main candidate, in the constituencies of Naples, Caserta and Salerno.
