Medicine, all available places for 2026 allocated (also in Tirana)
The first round of registrations, which started on 8 January with the national rankings and ended a week later, was not enough to allocate them all
On the day when the second round of enrolment in the faculties of Medicine, all the slots have been filled. While waiting, therefore, for the remedial examinations arranged by the universities (there are around 10,000 students who have to make up at least one debt), the 17,278 slots available for state universities were filled.
The last occupied seats
The first round of enrolment, which began on 8 January with the national rankings and ended a week later, was not enough to assign them all. Some students, in fact, did not apply to enrol, perhaps because they were directed to a university other than their first choice for grade reasons.
Thus, on 16 January, the remaining free places were announced: 707 (of which 385 for European students). For those, students had the opportunity to apply from 16 to 19 January, consulting the remaining places at each university on the Cineca website.
Even in Tirana, where more than a hundred places were left
After the controversy over the 9,650 euro annual fee (later modified and made equal for Italian universities), it was the Tirana campus of Tor Vergata University that had the most free places. There were 124 in total (96 for EU students). Right after, considering only EU places, there was the Rome seat of Tor Vergata (25 places) and the university of Siena (22).
Next steps
All holes have been plugged. Now, therefore, it is the turn of the second round of enrolments, which will last until 24 January. At that point, the related courses in the biomedical, pharmaceutical, health and veterinary areas will come into play. Starting on the 28th of this month, they will have their own rankings and an enrolment window to be used by the 31st to give continuity to the closest Plan B.
