Medicine, from Siena to the Tirana branch of Tor Vergata: the universities with the most places available

After the polemic that broke out during the week, it is the Tirana campus of the Tor Vergata University that has the most vacancies among the Medicine universities. 96, almost a quarter of the 385 slots for EU students that were not filled after the first enrolment session between 8 January, when the national rankings were published, and 14 January.

The case of the Albanian seat had broken out because of the enrolment costs, which were expected to be higher (EUR 9,650 per year) than in Italian universities. University Minister Anna Maria Bernini announced on 13 January that an agreement had been reached to make the fees the same as those in Italy. So it was, as confirmed in a communiqué published by Tor Vergata a few days later.

Yet, of the 220 admitted to Tirana, only 124 enrolled. Moreover, almost all 30 available places for non-EU students remain there, as only two have enrolled.

The university of Tor Vergata also has a few places left in Rome (where 458 have already enrolled): there are 25 for European residents. The university of Siena has a few fewer available, that is 22, considering however that the total number of places allocated is 303 (therefore 281 have matriculated).

The other universities with more than ten slots still available are La Sapienza di Roma (39, of which 14 at the Policlinico), Messina (20, of which 7 MedBioTec), Florence (17), Caltanissetta (16, of which 11 for the MedIt technology course), Catanzaro (13), Sassari (13), Genova (13) and Ferrara (11). In Catanzaro, there are an additional 9 places for the Digital Technology degree course in Medicine and Surgery.
