Giorgia Meloni is convinced of this: for the Prime Minister there would be a real 'political design around certain decisions of the judiciary' and in particular 'those concerning immigration', as if 'one wanted to put the brakes on our work to combat illegal immigration'. A positioning - that of the judges - which, according to the Prime Minister, is a consequence of the government's choices. "Obviously it does not escape me that the reform of justice is proceeding at a rapid pace and I have taken possible consequences into account". Heavy words those pronounced by Meloni last night on Tg5 from where she returned to attack the judges also on the Almasri case: "I have said what I think: I consider surreal the request for authorisation to proceed against ministers Nordio, Piantedosi and undersecretary Mantovano who have acted in accordance with the law to protect the security of Italians. But, as she had already said in her post on Monday, Meloni added that it is 'even more surreal' that instead in her regard the Court of Ministers has requested 'the archiving'.

'My ministers do not govern without my knowledge, because I am not Alice in Wonderland, I am the head of the government and I am not even, let's face it, just any Conte who pretended not to know what his interior minister was doing,' he added in reference to the position taken by the former premier and M5s leader towards Salvini. Conte's reaction was immediate. 'I am certainly not just any Meloni. And thank God, I would never repatriate a person accused of raping children and crimes against humanity."

Prudent instead continues to be Meloni on the economic front. On tariffs she first of all recalls that "the competence lies with the European Commission" and assures that in any case the government "will continue to help our companies and our producers". Certainly "the international context is complex" and weighs on the prospects for growth, but - she maintains - "Italy has what it takes to face this season". The Prime Minister claims the 'stability' of the executive and also 'Italy's fundamentals are better than those of other major European countries'.

It means according to Meloni that 'the strategy adopted is correct'. No anticipations on the next budget law. The Prime Minister, who in the afternoon greeted the 'chigisti' (the journalists who follow the Prime Minister) with a note wishing them rest because then they will have to run, is preparing for the challenges of the autumn. Among these is obviously the manoeuvre that overlaps with the electoral campaign for the regional elections. Meloni says she is certain that the centre-right will 'find a balance' on the candidatures. In the meantime, she showcases the final go-ahead for the Strait Bridge project and Rome Capital: 'We have been discussing it for decades, the others talk, we do'.
