Microsoft invests ten billion dollars in data centres in Japan

Microsoft announced that it will invest USD 10 billion in Japan over the next four years to build data centres dedicated to artificial intelligence and related infrastructure.
The announcement was made during a meeting in Tokyo between Microsoft President Brad Smith and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.

As stated in a company note, it is a 'response to Japan's growing need for cloud services and artificial intelligence,' Smith said.
The American technology giant will collaborate with Japanese companies SoftBank and Sakura Internet to develop the country's technology infrastructure.
