Social security bonuses for minors, first tests in Trentino and Friuli

In Italia, first experiences of social security bonuses for minors already exist at regional level.

Trentino Alto Adige from 2025 provides for a contribution of 300 euros at birth, or at adoption or fostering, paid directly into the social security position in which the child is registered. For the following four years, an additional EUR 200 per year is payable, provided that the family pays at least EUR 100 per year into the supplementary pension scheme in the name of the child saver. The application must be submitted within the child's second year of life or within two years from the date of the adoption or fostering measure. As a transitional measure, the contribution is also due to those who have not yet reached their fifth birthday on 1 January 2025.

A similar initiative is that of Friuli Venezia Giulia, which has activated an incentive plan in favour of families that invest in a complementary pension fund for minor children. For the year 2026, the contribution is EUR 200 for each child for whom a payment of at least EUR 300 was made into the supplementary pension fund in 2025. The incentives are conditional on meeting certain income requirements/family situations to be protected. In order to apply for the contribution, it is necessary to be a holder of an active Family Card, as well as to have a valid Isee with a value less than or equal to 35,000 euro (the Isee value to be taken into account is the one relating to subsidised benefits for minors) . It is also necessary to have made, in the previous year, payments into the supplementary pension fund in the name of minor children for an amount of at least 300 euro for each child. Applications may be submitted until the peremptory deadline of 31 May.
