Lavrov: there is a Russophobic regime in Kyiv; Europe is hindering the peace talks

“In an attempt to contain Russia, the United States has destroyed the European security architecture and installed a Russophobic regime in Kyiv,” said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. “Whilst aware of the futility of this strategy, Europe is doing everything it can to obstruct the peace negotiations in which Donald Trump’s administration is interested,” he added. “The West is flooding the Ukrainian regime with weapons, supplying Kyiv with drones and missiles used to strike civilians and civilian infrastructure. The West aims to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia, but they will reach a strategic dead end.”
“The West dreams of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia. But as has happened many times in the past, this dream will lead to a strategic dead end,” Lavrov added at the UN Headquarters in New York.
The attacks during the night
The Russian Ministry of Defence has stated that it carried out drone attacks overnight against port, transport, logistics and communications infrastructure used by the Ukrainian army. In Kyiv, Moscow claims to have struck the Kosmonova data centre, which is said to support mobile internet and Starlink satellite communications in aid of Ukrainian forces, according to a message posted on its Telegram channel.

The ministry also claims to have struck a cargo ship in the Black Sea that was carrying military equipment.
Two women, meanwhile, died following a Russian drone attack on Zaporizhzhia. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the co-chair of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Defence Council, Ivan Fedorov, and the head of the regional military administration, Mykhailo Semikin. A drone struck a house and the bodies of two women were recovered from the rubble, whilst a 4-year-old child and a 45-year-old man were injured.
