A change of heart at Nestlé. The Swiss food giant announced in a note released late this afternoon that it will have a new CEO as of 1 September: he is Laurent Freixe, who takes over from Mark Schneider.
Freixe, born in 1962, currently heads the Latin America region business of the French multinational and is Executive Vice President. Born in Paris, he joined Nestlé's French subsidiary in 1986, and has also headed the activities of the Europe and Americas region.
For his part Schneider, CEO since 2017, has decided to resign from his functions, including that of board member, and will leave the group.
"It has been an honour for me," commented the manager, quoted in the note. "I am grateful for what we have achieved, transforming Nestlé into a pioneering, innovative and sustainable company," he added.
According to the statement, Freixe has played an important role in strengthening the company's strategic direction and portfolio over the years and has a 'deep understanding of Nestlé's culture and values'.
