The new Audi A3: what’s new – more technology and ADAS
The update introduces innovations borrowed from the larger Audi models, and the Design version – the entry-level model in the Sportback range – is now available; however, it does not affect either the styling or the engine line-up of any of the premium compact’s variants
Key points
Thirty years on from the model’s debut and now in its fourth generation, the Audi A3 has been revamped, drawing inspiration from Audi’s top-of-the-range models. Breaking with convention, the update focuses solely on the interior of this premium compact car. Consequently, it does not alter the styling of either the Sportback – with its Allstreet, S3 and RS3 variants – or the four-door saloon, nor does it redefine the range of petrol engines (including electrified versions) and turbo-diesels, with power outputs ranging from 116 to 400 cavalli. However, it has inspired the expansion of the A3 Sportback range with the new, sporty ‘Design’ trim level, which forms the entry-level option in the range.
The new Audi A3: digitalisation redefines the interior
The interior of the new A3 range is characterised by a stylistic break from that of its predecessor, drawing inspiration from the latest Audi models. This redesign centres on the largecurved, driver-oriented display, which combines the most advanced version of the configurable 11.9-inch digital cockpit with the 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment display running the Android Automotive OS with AI, alongside the graphical interfaces that made their debut in the new Q3. The revamped interior is completed by the airbag between the front seats, the wireless smartphone charging pad – now rated at 25 kW and positioned towards the driver’s seat – and microfibre upholstery made from up to 100 per cent recycled polyester.
