From directly operated shops to franchising. In order to grow, Maisons du Monde, the French furniture, furnishings and accessories chain, is choosing the franchising model and the first quarter of 2026 will see the opening of a partner's first shop in Ragusa. Four more shops are scheduled to open in the coming year, and the company is in negotiations with several entrepreneurs on the Peninsula. At the same time, direct management will continue and a shop will be opened in Cagliari in the first quarter with the creation of approximately 25 jobs. The chain is in the process of reorganising its presence and after the closure of some shops has started a restructuring process. The plan includes the renovation of eight shops located in retail parks and one in a regional shopping centre. The work confirms the intention to reinvest in the Italian market, modernise the network and introduce new concepts. This is the case for several shops, including the one in the centre of Arese, which saw an increase in traffic of just over a third after the redesign of the interior spaces and the commercial offer. Moreover, all shops renovated in 2024 will grow faster than the others in 2025. The reopening of the Mestre shop at the beginning of the year, moved to a new concept, demonstrates Maisons du Monde's desire to offer more inspirational and experiential spaces. Promotions are also now developed locally while remaining consistent with the brand's global platform.
Italy is the second most important market after France and for the first time the brand will participate in the FuoriSalone in Milan to celebrate its first thirty years in Europe. On a company level, the presence in Italy is being consolidated and in December the company will open a new office in Rho-Fiera. This is the first step towards creating a complete local structure, capable of independently managing pricing, distribution and communication policies, by the end of 2026. As of this year, Frédéric Capdeville has been appointed country manager for Italy and his tasks include responding to the demands of Italian customers as a result of the 'Inspire everyday' plan, which prioritises customer proximity and local identity.
