Omoda 5 Shs-h, what the SUV with full hybrid technology looks and feels like
With an overall power output of 224 hp and front-wheel drive, it is available in two trims.
Omoda 5 debuts the new Super Hybrid applied to Full Hybrid technology, which we tested on the scenic roads of Tuscany. This propulsion system complements the already seen and tested plug-in hybrid, characterised by over 1200 kilometres of autonomy and the possibility of recharging from an external source. The list price, net of discounts, starts at 28,500 euro.
The new Super Hybrid system
Based on the Chery group's T1X platform, the Omoda 5 shs-h features a 143 hp 1.5-litre turbocharged Miller cycle internal combustion engine and two 204 hp electric units powered by a 1.8 kWh battery. The system delivers a system power of 224 hp and declared consumption of 5.3 l/100 km (Wltp homologation cycle), in line with what was found during the test drive, i.e. over 900 kilometres on a full tank. The gearbox is a rather smooth Dht 150 and on-board comfort is also guaranteed by independent suspension on all wheels.
Quality and technology in the cockpit
On board there is a breath of technology but also quality. The quality of the materials is good, there are not too many plastics but rather soft surfaces that are pleasant to the eye and touch.
The soundproofing of the passenger compartment is good, only a little noise can be heard when the electric motor acts as a generator for charging the battery.
The range is simple and consists of two trims, Pure and Premium. From the entry version, the equipment consists of a 12.3-inch dual display with Android Auto and Apple Car Play wireless protocols. Also from the screen you can access climate control, a choice now common among manufacturers but not entirely devoted to safety.
