Oppo Find X10 Pro Max: three 200-megapixel cameras and a price tag like a PC’s
The Enco X4, the new flagship true wireless earphones developed in collaboration with Dynaudio, have also been announced
Three 200-megapixel cameras and a price tag of €1,799.99. Oppo unveils the Find X10 Pro Max, a smartphone aimed at those who take photos and shoot videos on their phones. It launches in Italia today, 21 October, alongside the Find X10, available from €1,399.99. Hasselblad is once again partnering with the Chinese manufacturer on the camera system.
On the Pro Max, the 200-megapixel resolution applies to each of the three rear cameras: the main, ultra-wide-angle and telephoto lenses. The telephoto lens can focus from as close as ten centimetres, allowing you to capture fine details in macro shots. An external optical extender, sold as an accessory, expands the possibilities for photographing distant subjects.
By default, photos are saved at 26 megapixels: according to Oppo, this strikes a balance between detail and file size. To take photos at 50 or 200 megapixels, you need to select Hasselblad Hi-Res mode on cameras that support it. Resolution alone, however, is not enough to determine the quality of an image.
This is where the LUMO True Image Engine comes into play. The new processing engine aims to reduce overly sharp edges, excessive lightening of shadows and details generated by artificial intelligence. Oppo’s stated aim is to preserve the colours and textures of the scene, whilst maintaining a more natural balance between light and shadow. How well it achieves this will need to be tested in practice.
For videographers, the Pro Max records in 4K at up to 120 frames per second and in 8K at 30 frames per second using all three rear cameras. There’s also a new Open Gate mode: this utilises the sensor’s entire capture area, leaving more scope to extract either a horizontal or vertical shot from the same footage. Some features will also be accessible via the Blackmagic Camera app.
