Organic label for products made from Italian raw materials

A marker to make it easier to identifyorganic products made from raw materials grown or reared in Italia. This is the Italian organic label, established by the Ministerial Decree of 26 May 2026 issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, published in the Official Gazette on 13 July 2026.

The mark may be used by all operators with their registered office and production facilities within the European Union whose products are labelled with the words ‘Agricoltura Italia’ or ‘Acquacoltura Italia’. With regard to labelling, the decree specifies the criteria that must be met: first and foremost, the mark may only be affixed in addition to the European Union’s organic production logo. Furthermore, the national logo must not in any way overlap, restrict or replace that of the EU label. The latter must, in fact, always be clearly identifiable and comply with the provisions of EU legislation. Furthermore, the Italian mark must not be larger than the European Union’s organic production logo. The two logos must be presented and arranged within the same field of view, ensuring they remain distinct and recognisable. Finally, the mark must not be altered in any way: it is forbidden to add text, modify the shape or visual elements, add graphic effects or use it in a transparent format.

Anyone wishing to make use of the option to display the Italian organic logo must notify the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry via the dedicated online application , which can be accessed via the National Agricultural Information System (SIAN). The details of the organic operator must be provided, including the Unique Farm Identification Code (CUAA), together with a list of the products on which the label is to be used. A self-declaration will also be required, confirming compliance with the requirements set out in European Regulation 2018/848, which governs the production and labelling of organic products. A further document is required in which the operator undertakes to comply with the rules laid down in the decree and to notify any changes to the list of products. If no refusal is received from the Ministry within thirty days of the notification, the operator is authorised to use the logo.
