'The growth of this country is not achieved by improving Irpef'. This was said by the president of Confindustria, Emanuele Orsini, at the public assembly of Confindustria Emilia Area Centro in Bologna, speaking about the measure being studied by the government in the next manoeuvre. 'Obviously the issue of wages has always been a theme for us, you don't increase it by making a cut in Irpef but by making productivity contracts'. For Orsini, it is important not to make 'a once-a-year cut' but 'to put industry and the company at the centre, which in any case can produce more, can earn and distribute wealth. I believe that is the way'.
The cost of energy is unsustainable
."The cost of energy in this country is unsustainable," because "when we pay 4-5 times more than the United States and we pay 30-60% more than some European countries, it is obvious that it becomes a problem for energy-intensive companies," continued Orsini, at the public assembly of Confindustria Emilia Area Centro. "We have proposed decoupling, which has finally entered the government's 'vocabulary': we are pleased, but let's do it soon," added Orsini, who pointed out that "we need to do it soon because winter is coming".
To work with the government, we need 8 billion
For 'the next manoeuvre we are beginning to work together with the government in these days, I must say the truth we also have meetings in a few hours to discuss precisely the fact that all the incentives that are there today are running out,' Orsini said, reiterating how 'a series of measures are expiring' and industrialists are calling for further 'measures for 8 billion to support enterprise'. "Industry 4.0 is ending, Industry 5.0 is ending, single Zes and even the tax credit on research and development are ending," he added on the sidelines of the public assembly of Confindustria Emilia Area Centro. "As it is, it is not research and development and we need to put industry at the centre. We have asked for measures for 8 billion to support enterprise and here too I want to say one thing: it is not that if 8 billion is taken, that 8 billion is given back by the enterprises because,' he concluded, 'part of the investments come back with VAT and above all with the revenue that these enterprises generate and especially with hiring.
Ue attracts investment but I doubt he has clear ideas
"We must be able to attract investment. Europe and the ECB must put the attraction policy at the centre, making Eurobonds, where we put what is needed to make Europe grow at the centre of the agenda'. But 'to do this you need a Europe that knows where it wants to go. I have the doubt that right now Europe does not have clear ideas,' the president of Confindustria pointed out.
Tariffs, madness bringing EU companies overseas
'The fact that Trump wants to bring European companies to the United States seems clear to me and that he has even written it into the agreements. As a representative of Italian companies it seems crazy to me, we need Europe to keep its companies in Italy and in Europe,' Orsini explained in a passage of his speech at the Confindustria Emilia assembly in Bologna, denouncing the risk of relocations linked to US tariffs. 'We seem to do everything to make them leave'.
