Fruit and vegetables, Spreafico invests in logistics with a 12 million loan from Intesa Sanpaolo and Sace
Funds for the development of the Fiano Romano distribution centre. From the bank's Agribusiness Department almost 2 billion euro to SMEs in the agri-food sector
A 12 million euro loan disbursed by Intesa Sanpaolo with the guarantee of Sace, will enable the expansion of Spreafico, a company operating in the fruit and vegetable sector, to the South and into foreign markets. The funds will be used more specifically for an investment in the Fiano Romano logistics hub, but also as part of a broader €23 million investment plan.
It is a project, explain the Agribusiness Directorate of Intesa, 'that contributes to the goals the company has outlined in its Strategic Sustainability Plan, ensuring greater energy efficiency and less logistical impact on the territory'.
Founded in 1955 in Dolzago, in the province of Lecco, Spreafico Francesco & F.lli Spa has become an important Italian company in the fruit and vegetable sector, employing 265 people and with a network that reaches more than 30 countries worldwide. "The new platform in Fiano Romano is not only a strategic pole that significantly strengthens our presence in Central and Southern Italy, but also represents a fundamental step in our growth path," comments company president Mauro Spreafico -. This plant is fully in line with the company's strategic plan, which is oriented towards brand enhancement and the development of modern, high-performance infrastructures. The pole has been designed to guarantee maximum logistical efficiency and to respond quickly and capillary to the needs of a constantly evolving market".
"We have supported the company on a path oriented towards quality, innovation, and attention to the consumer at all stages of the supply chain, from cultivation to distribution. A commitment to accelerate investment by Italian agri-food companies that has translated, in the first nine months of the year, into almost 2 billion euro of medium/long-term disbursements for the development projects of companies in the sector," explains Massimiliano Cattozzi, head of Intesa Sanpaolo's Agribusiness Division of the Banca dei Territori Division.
The operation is part of 'the commitment of the Banca dei Territori Division, headed by Stefano Barrese, to support the investments of SMEs in the sector, to which it has recently launched the new 'Crescere per competere' initiative - a strategic approach dedicated to extraordinary finance for SMEs - as well as having recently allocated a EUR 10 billion allocation for the development and valorisation of the 'Made in Italy' agrifood supply chains,' a note explained.
