Italy's Expo in Osaka, Bie wins gold Meloni: award to Italian genius
Commissioner Vattani: 'Recognition for choral teamwork' Foreign Minister Tajani: 'Success that confirms the strength of growth diplomacy'
Italy's participation in Expo 2025 Osaka concluded with an unprecedented success. The Italian Pavilion received the first prize in the Theme Development category, the most prestigious award conferred by the Bureau international des expositions (Bie) - the intergovernmental organisation that supervises and assigns the official awards for Universal Expositions.
This is a historic first for Italy, which surpasses all previous results obtained in past Universal Expositions. Collecting the award at the Expo Hall Shining Hat was Ambassador Mario Vattani, Commissioner General for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka, who declared: "We have interpreted the Expo theme in the way that best belongs to the culture of our great nation, starting from the concept that "art regenerates life"". According to the Commissioner General, "it is an acknowledgement that rewards choral teamwork. Regions, companies, the world of culture, the country system: the whole of Italy has won at the Osaka Expo".
'This award,' concluded Vattani, 'does not just celebrate a pavilion, but an idea of Italy: a country that believes in the future, that knows how to unite art and technology, tradition and innovation, and that with the strength of its collective talent knows how to be admired around the world.
Meloni, award celebrating our genius
Tajani, Bie rewards Italian growth diplomacy
"I learn with satisfaction the news of the First Prize of the Bie Jury awarded to the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, an acknowledgement that rewards the quality of the work carried out by the Commissariat General and by the entire Sistema Paese that contributed to this important result", writes the vice-premier Antonio Tajani on X.
