Year after year, the presence of Italian start-ups at Ces in Las Vegas grows. This year, the mission organised by Area Science Park is focusing on deep tech and will bring 51 start-ups to the States, which will exhibit in the pavilion organised together with Agenzia Ice, a group of innovative companies with science-intensive made-in-Italy solutions ranging from life sciences to new materials, up to energy technologies and advanced digital technology. For Area Science Park, this represents an international milestone in a complex strategy that has seen the organisation engaged in recent years in structural support for innovation and technology transfer, in a chain that combines basic research and entrepreneurial development in sectors with the highest potential for impact. The aim is to systemise research infrastructures and scientific expertise to support the growth of enterprises capable of meeting the challenges of the future. The Italian pavilion at Ces 2026 is located in Eureka Park, the beating heart of global innovation at the event.
There will be realities focusing on energy transition, with platforms for solar communities and wireless laser recharging, to smart land and agricultural management, through hydro-retentive materials and infrastructural monitoring of bridges and areas at risk. Innovation redesigns production and work processes thanks to advanced industrial sensors, cybersecurity systems on blockchain and AI for career coaching, but also places the person at the centre: from health, with exoskeletons, wearable airbags and psychophysical monitoring, to safe mobility with anti-sleep devices. Artificial intelligence and virtual reality, finally, revolutionise the lifestyle and creative industries, ranging from financial and sports advisors to soles for moving through the metaverse, to platforms for cloud computing, influencer marketing and multimedia content certification.
In Ces week, the first phase of the 'Deep tech revolution', a EUR 1 million programme dedicated to innovative high-tech business projects, comes to an end. The initiative has seen the candidature of projects from 14 Italian regions, which are now going through the final screening: by 15 January 2026 the five winners will be announced, who will access funding and, for the first time, the direct use of the organisation's technology platforms, from genomics to advanced microscopy. In fact, Deep Tech Revolution offers not only cash contributions but also high-tech services including access to research infrastructures and advanced laboratories on the Trieste campus.
"Participation in Ces 2026 should be read as part of a structural investment in deep tech. We are not limiting ourselves to accompanying start-ups to the fair; we are building the scientific and economic infrastructure that allows them to be born and compete,' says Fabrizio Rovatti, Area Science Park's chief technologist. 'In recent years we have worked to go beyond simple entrepreneurial support, guaranteeing hard scientific support by providing laboratories and capital. In this context, Las Vegas remains a fundamental step: here technologies, including frontier technologies, have the opportunity to confront global trends and seek the market validation necessary to scale. The strong deep tech traction of the start-ups that we are accompanying this year demonstrates that the direction taken is the right one for presiding over the technologies of the future". Area Science Park took care of the organisation of the Academy dedicated to Italian start-ups. Through specific preparation, the companies worked on pitches and strategies for approaching investors and international media, maximising the opportunities for new relationships offered by the fair. The organisation will also play an active role in the agenda of the Italian pavilion, organising a thematic panel where innovation stakeholders and international investors will discuss the themes of deep tech and technology transfer.
During the four days in the Italian Pavilion, under the claim 'Inspired by legacy, designed by vision' Ice's mission in Eureka Park brings research institutions, accelerators, regional clusters and start-ups.
