Patrizio Bertelli, an industrialist from Arezzo and patron of the Prada group, recently appointed knight of labour, is said to have signed, through the Peschiera company, a preliminary purchase contract worth 8 million euro for the area of the former Lebole, a vast area on the outskirts of Arezzo that has been abandoned for years
The preliminary is expected to be finalised by July.
The area, owned by the Carrara family of Pistoia, was home to the historic Lebole clothing factory, a symbol of Italian-made goods between the 1960s and 1980s, which for decades represented a landmark in the fashion and style sector, as well as a pillar of the local economy.
Bertelli, already the protagonist of other investments in the centre of Arezzo, including the purchase of Palazzo Carbonati, a 14th-century building, and two historic restaurants, has not yet disclosed plans for the area.
In the past there were plans to build a residential citadel, which never came to fruition.
