The point is to have an object that works equally well inside as outside. Its design is minimalist, elegant but also too serious. In this sense it looks good on any desk. Technically, the lamp has a colour-changing LED that emits a downward light from the fixed shade, emitting 370 lumens when lit, equivalent to a 4W LED bulb. It is enough to illuminate a coffee table, making it ideal for outdoor dining. The advantage is a silicone handle that makes it easy to move the lamp wherever you want and a rechargeable battery that lasts 48 hours. Add to that the integration with the rest of the Hue smart lighting system, which means you can play with the light with the smartphone app to create truly atmospheric atmospheres. Millions of colours are available and when night falls, the outdoor effect is also pleasant because the Hue app offers so many combinations.

Without the connection to the Hue Bridge, therefore, the sense is somewhat lost as it becomes just a colour-changing lamp that costs around 160 euro. Moreover, it has recently been updated with the new brightness balancer feature, which allows you to customise the intensity of individual lights in an entertainment area, instead of controlling them as a group. Finally, thanks to an update to Philips Hue Bridge, the Philips Hue motion sensors will soon be able to be activated in as many as ten time slots instead of two, making it possible to customise lighting even more precisely and in line with one's daily routine. On the negative side, the battery life could be longer with the brighter settings, and then it is not possible to control the battery life in the app, the top button cannot dim the light or be customised.
