Pirelli P Zero: the new-generation tyres take centre stage at the Goodwood Festival of Speed
At the Festival of Speed, P Zero ultra-high-performance tyres are fitted to many of the cars taking part in the Hill Climb time trial
At the event which, more than any other in the world, brings together the most innovative and high-performance cars from premium and prestige brands, Pirelli is showcasing the new range from the P Zero family, which has already secured three hundred specific type-approvals. In other words, with bespoke characteristics that optimise the performance, safety and driving pleasure of these models. This fifth generation of the P Zero range has been developed not only through intensive simulator testing but also by making extensive use of AI and algorithms devised by the Milan-based company.
Pirelli P Zero reaches a record size of 24” for the Ferrari Luce
Among the star models at the Festival of Speed is the new Ferrari Luce, for which a 24-inch version has been produced a P Zero E tyre, 55 per cent of which is made from bio-based and recycled materials, which combines low rolling resistance – crucial for an electric car – with the characteristics needed to support high performance.
This is a theme that Pirelli is exploring at Goodwood with its P Zero Trofeo Rs tyres, tailor-made for the high-performance Bentley Supersports, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with Manthey kit and the BMW M2 with M Performance Track Kit.
Among the cars fitted with P Zero Trofeo Rs tyres is the Sadair’s Spear hypercar, which marks the start of the collaboration between Koenigegg and Pirelli – a partnership that also extends to its replica built by Lego Technic. A drivable model that reached a speed of 111 per hour on the Hill Climb: a record for a Lego car of this kind.
Pirelli P Zero reaffirms its partnership with Pagani through Cyber Tyre
Staying within the high-performance car sector, at Goodwood the Milan-based company reaffirmed its partnership with Pagani to continue the development of the Cyber Tyre range. This collaboration began with the Utopia Roadster hypercar, which featured semi-slick tyres incorporating Cyber Tyre technology. This is the system developed by Pirelli that enables the tyres to communicate directly with the car’s electronics via integrated sensors that read the grip conditions of each wheel, taking into account the type of P Zero fitted at that moment, and communicate via Bluetooth with the Bosch electronic control units governing the dynamic handling systems.
