Plasma donations in decline, the singers' appeal from the Ariston stage
A yellow dress or accessory will be worn by the contestants on the third evening of the festival. Donations down 5 points in January 2026
In January 2026there was a drop of almost 5 percentage points inplasma donations, compared to the same period in 2025. This is a worrying figure, even if we must consider that last year the quantity ofItalian plasma used in pharmaceutical production reached ca record 919.7 tonnes. However, Italia has not yet reached full self-sufficiency and is forced toimport from abroad around 30% of medicines.
The singers taking part in the third evening of the Sanremo Festival will be the spokespersons for a message of great social importance. The appeal to promote plasma donation will come, in fact, from the stage of the Ariston, from the artists in the competition who, wearing a yellow dress or accessory, will launch the Avis invitation to donate.
The collaboration between Avis and FantaSanremo
The initiative is part of the collaboration betweenAvis and FantaSanremo. Each artist who joins the initiative and brings to the stage the colour of this precious haemocomponent, not by chance also called "liquid gold", will receive a bonus of 10 points: a small but significant gesture to reiterate how fundamental this type of donation is in saving the lives of many people.
Plasma, in fact, is the liquid part of blood: yellow in colour, it is more than 90% water and carries essential substances such as proteins, sugars, fats, minerals, vitamins, antibodies and clotting factors. It is used in thetreatment of severe burns, certain liver diseases and in the production of indispensable drugs for those with rare diseases such as haemophilia and primary immunodeficiencies.
The official Avis league for the FantaSanremo is called 'Avis - Donors of emotions'. It is easily identifiable thanks to the association's logo, as well as the image that takes up the claim of the new communication campaign "Our way to help is to extend an arm"
