Portobello, Heated Rivalry and three other must-see TV series in February
Browsing through the global streaming, satellite and digital terrestrial offer, here is a selection of titles not to be missed
The Beauty (Disney+) is horror that delivers on all its promises and premises. While Fallout (Prime Video) continues to please me even if with a few lapses in tone. As for February, it confirms itself as a peculiar month for a whole series of reasons. The most interesting series are two. Motorvalley, which talks about Emilia-Romagna, engines and racing on two four wheels. And Portobello, the judicial odyssey of Enzo Tortora is a story we should all learn to study and get to know well. Enjoy your viewing.
Motorvalley - Season 1 - 10 February
Motorvalley runs over Emilia-Romagna like a GT on the Monza straight: six episodes, high displacement, zero folklore. The series enters the Italian Gran Turismo Championship and uses racing as an industrial grammar. Argentero and Michielin move between pits and telemetry, with Alberto Naska and Simone Tonoli providing friction with the real thing. At the centre Arturo, Elena and Blu: talent, heritage and risk. Cars accelerate, families brake. As often happens, the one who can handle both wins. (Netflix)
The Night Agent - Season 3 - 19 February
Peter Sutherland switches from defence to hunting: he has to track down in Istanbul a FinCEN analyst who escaped with confidential data after a murder. Between goons and a journalist who won't give up, the investigation becomes a stress test for power: when information circulates, governments tremble. Not everyone will like it, but it has something different from other series. (Netflix)
Portobello - Season 1 - 20 February
Six episodes, first Italian HBO Original series. It recounts the Enzo Tortora case, symbol of a systemic judicial error. In 1982 Portobello was worth 28 million viewers, the Quirinale named him Commendatore. A year later, a declaration by a turncoat linked to Raffaele Cutolo causes him to plummet. From the summit to the abyss, as in a structural collapse without testing. (Hbo Max)
Heated Rivalry - Season 1 - 13 February
Born on Crave, relaunched by HBO Max, it is a case of viral spread at low marketing expense: time counts, not algorithm. Created by Jacob Tierney, from the Rachel Reid series, it tells the story of two hockey stars, Shane and Ilya: rivals on the ice but attracted in life. A secret relationship. Eight years to realise the real match is off the ice. (Hbo Max)
