Ports, Salvini signs the appointment for three presidents
The deputy prime minister: 'To overcome the impasse in the Senate committee, I will make three appointments each week, to give the airports the efficiency they deserve'
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, after complaining about a political blockade (of Forza Italia) in the Senate for months over the appointments of the heads of the Italian ports, signed the decrees appointing three new presidents to as many Port System Authorities.
"There has been a political stalemate in Parliament for months," said the deputy prime minister, "in a committee chaired by a colleague from the majority, not from the League and not from Fratelli d'Italia. So I have done what is the power and duty of the minister to do and, every week, I will make three appointments, so at least we give Italian ports the efficiency and effectiveness they deserve.
Today's appointments concern Francesco Mastro, president of the Southern Adriatic Sea Adsp (Bari, Brindisi, Manfredonia, Barletta, Monopoli and Termoli ports); Francesco Rizzo president of the Straits Adsp (Messina, Milazzo, Tremestieri, Villa San Giovanni, Reggio Calabria and Saline); and Bruno Pisano president of the Eastern Ligurian Sea Adsp (La Spezia and Marina di Carrara).
With these appointments, reads a note from the ministry, "the Ministry of Economic Development confirms its focus on the structural strengthening of the Italian port system, the fulcrum of Italy's logistics, maritime interchange, and international competitiveness. The three System Authorities will now be able to continue, with full legitimacy, with their four-year mandate, defining strategic guidelines and implementing operational plans in their respective territorial areas, thanks to stable and renewed governance. The ministry and the government reaffirm their commitment to ensuring that all of the country's port authorities can operate at their best, to avoid administrative paralysis and to foster maximum efficiency in the sector
