With an envelope of just over 3 billion, 'cohesion policy 2021-2027 has reached a high degree of maturity from a programming point of view. The procedures are more laborious, but they allow us to move with a more organic and functional vision for growth'. Maurizio Nicolai, Managing Authority of the Calabria Region, affirms this with a perhaps excessive dose of optimism: "Our priority is to spend, acting in a correct and transparent manner.
The mission is to create a Calabria that is more competitive and innovative, greener in terms of climate and energy, natural resources and circular economy, more connected through networks, transport and logistics, more social in terms of employment, skills and inclusion, and, finally, closer to citizens in terms of territorial development and administrative capacity.
The results at the moment are satisfactory: the new Pr Calabria has activated procedures for about 890 million, of which 234 from the ESF, with a projection of expenditure of about 150 million for this year and a further 318 million for next year, according to data provided by the Region of Calabria. "We are at 28% of the programme's commitments, but the goal for December is to reach at least 40%," said the president of the Calabria Region, Roberto Occhiuto, at the recent meeting of the Monitoring Committee for the implementation of the 2021-2027 ESF regional programme. He went on to add that "in addition to the numbers, the quality of the projects is strongly considered, in order to field those that reflect the potential of our region".
Figures updated at the end of April, which therefore differ from the figures of the Igrue, the General Inspectorate for Financial Relations with the European Union, referring to February 2024, which document commitments of 8.65% ERDF and 1.51% ESF.
The closure of old programming
.Returning to the Region's data, the certified expenditure of the 2014-2020 programming comes to 85.9%, which reaches almost 96%, also taking into account the expenditure under certification: according to the regional monitoring, decommitment is averted.
