Starting today 15 September, it is possible to apply for and obtain the psychologist bonus for 2025. The time window for submitting applications will close on 14 November 2025. Applications must be submitted exclusively online, using the Inps portal dedicated to the psychologist bonus. Attached to the application, interested citizens will have to submit a valid Isee, subject to certain limits that also determine the maximum amount of state aid. From the publication of the rankings, beneficiaries will have 270 days to make use of the aid by means of an assigned unique code. If the period expires, the code will be automatically cancelled.
It has been a rocky start for the 2025 psychologist bonus: the submission of applications to the Inps portal, which officially started on 15 September, is decidedly less of a click away than the Institute had anticipated. Which, moreover, requires applications to be submitted electronically only. And citizens' protests are also flowing in on social networks: "Is there anyone who has actually managed to apply for the psychologist bonus?" wonders one of them, pointing out that he has been trying to 're-click' the 'Apply' button since 10am this Monday morning, without success. And that's not all: there are those who still see the application for 2024 appearing, while more than one posts the desolating photo of the screen studded with the discouraging phrase 'An error occurred during the requested operation'. Then, the invitation to 'try again'... Some have been there since 6am. Those who have been there since 8 a.m. Notwithstanding the insults, which are never permissible, patience is broken over crashes and errors.
"From midnight and one minute when the procedure opened until 6 p.m., we counted 70,000 applications submitted," they announce from the Inps, "and we expect that in a couple of days the availability of resources for this bonus established by the government - which barely cubes 9 million euro out of the Institute's 500 billion budget - will be exhausted. From the Inps, however, they reject any accusation of malfunctioning of the portal: 'It may happen that a person is unable to make or load the application correctly. On our side, we do not record any inefficiencies, also because the system is perfectly capable of withstanding much higher flows, as has been the case with other services".
Who can claim the bonus .
The bonus, which is also provided for in the latest budget law for the year 2025, aims to support people experiencing depression, anxiety and stress, by bearing the costs of psychotherapy sessions. Residents of Italy in possession of a valid ordinary or current Isee not exceeding 50,000 euro are eligible for the aid. The amount of the contribution varies depending precisely on the Isee bracket and can go up to EUR 1,500 with an Isee of less than EUR 15,000. The bonus is reduced to 1,000 euro with Isee between 15,000 and 30,000 euro and to 500 euro with Isee between 30,000 and 50,000 euro. The maximum contribution recognised for each individual session will in any case be 50 euro.
