What are the speed detection devices and what is new for speed cameras? What is at risk for wild parking? With the new rules introduced in the Highway Code comes a crackdown on those who park everywhere without paying attention. And there are new guidelines for speed cameras and overtaking. We talked about this in a videointerview with State Police Chief Commissioner Salvatore Atorino.
According to the law, what are the rules for installing fixed devices without the presence of an agent on site to challenge the violation committed? And what are the warnings for motorists?
So when we talk about speed cameras, about speed devices, we talk about speed limits. It is good to stress the importance of respecting speed limits, because as we know by now, speeding and distracted driving are the main causes of accidents. When we talk about speed detection devices, there are various types: we have mobile devices or fixed devices. The general rule, in any case, is that the device must be properly pre-signed and visible to the user who is passing on that stretch of road. And this is in view of the preventive purpose that the device must ensure, so that the user is aware that he is aligning his speed, realises that he is going outside the limits, and thus allows administrative action to be carried out in a transparent and fair manner.
Of the new rules there is one concerning repeat offences from speed cameras what does the rule say?
Here too, the legislator's aim is to avoid overlapping and interfering sanctions. In the event of multiple violations committed by the same vehicle on a stretch of road, in respect of the same entity, and within a maximum period of one hour, the most serious violation increased by one third shall apply.
