My two cats are used to cleaning robots. I try many of them and use them frequently. At first they were amazed, following them from afar, then with time they lost interest preferring to stare creepily at corners of the wall and rage with their nails on furniture and sofas. Roborock Saros Z70 has regained their attention, and it is not because it is the first robot with a mechanical arm to come out, but because of the way it moves around the house. Let's say it is the first circular appliance that seems to have a personality of its own, seems to know your house well and knows what it has to do. Clearly this is a suggestion, because technologically it is not very different from the others, except for that 'arm' that pops out and picks up your sock or the countless dog and cat toys that occupy the floor of your house. It has to be said that, no matter how equipped he is with cameras and sensors, he very often fails to notice the mess: he slips past his son's shoes and pretends not to see them. He also misplaces items in the bin and refuses to get under low furniture. But with a little patience and planning he learns and improves. Even if the limit is to only take care of small objects weighing no more than 300 grams. As for cleaning, however, we are dealing with one of the best, if not the best, robot of its generation. Powerful, agile on carpets, careful of obstacles and so far careful not to get stuck under chairs. It cleans well and everywhere. But the difference between the model and the one without the futuristic arm is felt above all in the price: 1700 versus 1499 euros for the Saros 10R. Roborock has promised software updates that expand the range of objects recognised (perhaps heavier shoes, up to 700 g) and improvements in precision. But if you are an early adopter, if you are fascinated by the idea of the arm and want to try it out, and if you have bored cats that no longer get excited about anything, then you are better off taking home the more advanced appliance.
