Despite the sore defeat against Carlos Alcaraz in the longest final ever at Roland Garros, Jannik Sinner remains first in the Atp ranking and holds a 2,030 point lead over the Spaniard. Alcaraz, who also won Roland Garros in 2024, did not add any ranking points to his previous ranking. Sinner, who last year in the Parisian tournament had exited in the semifinals against the tennis player from Murcia, gained 500.
But that is not the only good news for Italy coming from the Paris slam. In fact, Roland Garros also certified the top player status of Lorenzo Musetti, who gained another position in the rankings, is number 6 this week, just 70 points away from entering the Top 5. Third among the Italians is Flavio Cobolli (25th). He is followed by Matteo Berrettini (No. 28). Matteo Arnaldi (no. 41), Lorenzo Sonego (no. 45), Luciano Darderi (no. 48). Mattia Bellucci (no. 72) and Luca Nardi (no. 98).
In the first week of Roland Garros, Matteo Gigante put on a good show by beating Stefanos Tsitsipas, who dropped out of the Top 20 for the first time since 2018. Thanks to the third round reached in Paris, the left-hander gained 37 ranking positions and reached a new best ranking at number 130. This is currently the top ten of the Atp Ranking: -1 Jannik Sinner (Ita) 10,880 points, -2 Carlos Alcaraz (Spa) 8.850, -3 Alexander Zverev (Ger) 6,385, -4 Jack Draper (Gbr) 4,800, -5 Novak Djokovic (Srb) 4,630, -6 Lorenzo Musetti (Ita) 4,560, -7 Taylor Fritz (Usa) 4,485, -8 Tommy Paul (Usa) 3,510, -9 Holger Rune (Den) 3,440, -10 Alex de Minaur (Aus) 3,285.
