Macron: 'Russian oil tanker intercepted, unacceptable circumvention of sanctions'
"The national navy intercepted yesterday morning a new oil tanker under international sanctions from Russia: the Tagor. Our determination is constant and total'. This was announced by French President Emmanuel Macron in a post on X.
"This operation was conducted in the Atlantic, in international waters, with the support of several partners including the United Kingdom, in strict compliance with the law of the sea," added the French Head of State.
"It is unacceptable that ships circumvent international sanctions, violate the law of the sea and finance the war that Russia has been waging against Ukraine for more than four years. These ships, which do not respect the most elementary rules of maritime navigation, are also a threat to the environment and to the safety of all".
Moscow: captain of ship intercepted by France is Russian

"The embassy has officially asked the French authorities for information on the possible presence of Russian nationals" among the other crew members, but "no response has been received so far" from the foreign ministry, the diplomatic office stressed in a comment posted on its Telegram channel. "The embassy has not received any notification from the French authorities on the measures taken against this ship," the note adds.
