"I will be able to present to the Council of Ministers within the month of May a measure to regularise and rectify all the small domestic irregularities that exist within the home". This was said by League leader Matteo Salvini, at the presentation of his book, 'Controvento', on stage with Roberto Vannacci at the Temple of Hadrian. The general, candidate of the League for the European elections, took the stage together with the Lega leader. In front of a wall of photographers and TV operators, Vannacci (in jacket and tie) and Salvini (without tie), posed for a few minutes for photos.

Salvini: I like having a general to talk about peace

"I like to have a general to talk about peace: one of the central themes of the next five years in Europe will be war or peace. Some European leaders talk wickedly about sending our soldiers to fight outside our borders: never in our name a single Italian, European soldier to fight and die outside our borders. And maybe the general, who is a defence expert, will say why,' said the League leader.

"Europeans will not influence the government"

.

For Salvini, 'the elections on 9 June are not just elections. But they will not have the slightest influence on the Italian government, which will last the entire five-year legislature. It has nothing to do with reshuffles, committee chairmen, the appointment of bodies.... But at the European level we are on different positions, and I hope that no one in the centre-right will miss the opportunity for a united centre-right as in Italy, perhaps by saying 'I prefer Macron to Le Pen'"

"More Europe now is like giving jam to a diabetic"

.

"More Europe now is like telling a diabetic 'let's have bread and jam,'" said the League leader.

Vannacci: Europe is offering us an upside-down world

'Homeland, borders, security, identity, national sovereignty'. These are the values for which Roberto Vannacci is running for the European elections, as he spelled them out in his first public outing alongside Matteo Salvini. 'Europe is offering us a world in reverse. They are trying to remove all identity symbols. We don't like a Europe in which everyone is a bargaining chip,' he added: 'We like a strong Europe, which makes us feel that we are proud to be European and Italian, to make us feel that Italy and Europe are worth dying for. Today this is not aroused in almost any of us'.

From Valditara to Angelucci, leghisti in the stalls for Vannacci-Salvini

.

From Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara to MP Antonio Angelucci, via deputy secretary Andrea Crippa: these were some of the Leghists in the audience at the Temple of Hadrian for Matteo Salvini's first public outing together with Roberto Vannacci, on the occasion of the presentation of the deputy prime minister's book. Angelucci took his seat in the front row, except when he found himself surrounded by journalists, whose questions he preferred not to answer. Before the event began, he returned to his seat, next to Francesco Storace. In the packed hall, other Leghists were also present: Undersecretary for Labour Claudio Durigon, Senator Gianluca Cantalamessa, MP Giulio Centemero, and outgoing MEP Antonio Maria Rinaldi.
