Sardinia: the major recruitment drive gets under way with 396 new nurses in hospitals
President Todde: “The staff shortage cannot be tackled by moving doctors and nurses from one facility to another; we need new staff”
Almost 400 new nurses for Sardinia’s hospitals. The unified public recruitment process managed by ARES Sardegna for the permanent recruitment of nurses into the Regional Health Service has concluded, with 396 successful candidates on the shortlists of the six healthcare trusts involved. This is a process which, as the Regional Government emphasises, ‘provides healthcare trusts with new professional resources and forms part of the wider initiative launched by the Regional Government, in collaboration with ARES, to structurally strengthen the workforce in Sardinia’s healthcare system’.
Next, the allocation of staff. As regards the Brotzu Hospital, ‘out of the 40 posts originally advertised, the Hospital has asked Ares to proceed with selecting candidates from the entire ranking list and to recruit all 121 eligible nurses’. In this case, recruitment will begin in the coming days and the new staff will be assigned to the various departments and services of Arnas, helping to strengthen its workforce and support patient care.
Competition results are positive
The rankings approved at the end of the procedure significantly expand the pool of professionals available to companies. In addition to the 121 eligible candidates on the Brotzu ranking list, there are 15 on the ASL Sulcis list, 81 on the ASL Nuoro list, 81 on the ASL Oristano list, 41 on the ASL Ogliastra list and 57 on the ASL Gallura list, making a total of 396 eligible candidates.
“The outcome of this recruitment process has delivered a significant result that exceeds the 90 posts initially planned,” emphasises the President of the Region and Acting Councillor for Health, Alessandra Todde. ‘The ranking lists now provide healthcare organisations with 396 eligible professionals, and Brotzu Hospital has already chosen to make full use of this opportunity, moving from the 40 recruitments initially planned to requesting the appointment of all 121 nurses on its own ranking list.’
Regional health service strengthened
The conclusion of the recruitment process marks a further step in the process of strengthening the workforce of the Regional Health Service.
