School, Valditara: a breakthrough for the inclusion of disabled students
The minister: all posts filled and support staff increased
"I proudly claim what we have done, which represents a real breakthrough in guaranteeing the real inclusion of all those extraordinary young people with various disabilities". This was said by the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, in his speech at the award ceremony in Rome of the National Competition of Ideas for the institutional logo of Agnd.
The Chairs and Teachers
"We have for the first time in history covered all the professorships in September, both ordinary and support professorships, something that had never happened before, and this is first and foremost a major achievement. We then hired 28,000 tenured support teachers, we expanded the statutory staff by 1.800 posts, we have - and this had been a request of the associations for at least 25 years - guaranteed families the possibility of choosing teaching continuity, that is, of choosing, where a positive relationship had been established, both from a professional point of view, but also from a human point of view with the young person, to ask the school for the possibility of continuing with that precarious support teacher in order to break that tragic habit of changing the point of reference for a young person who has an extraordinary need for teaching continuity every year, if not sometimes every month,' added the head of MIM.
Increased transport resources
"We then increased the resources for the transport of children with disabilities both with regard to the state fund destined for municipalities, and with regard to parochial schools, where among other things there are many young people with disabilities. We started for the first time specialisation courses with Indire to ensure that there were more and more teachers specialised in support, we realised that about 85,000 teachers on support were not specialised and among other things this was also an obstacle to their recruitment, 25,000 teachers were included in a first specialised course with Indire. A few weeks ago I finally signed a decree to allocate almost 19 million euro for the removal of architectural barriers,' Valditara continued.
