Sea-view trails

From seaside footpaths to proper randonnée walks, the ‘green island’ is always a discovery. You can choose between the Heritage Trails and the Memory Trails in rural Corsica, designed to introduce you to the villages and their surroundings via short, easy-to-follow circular routes. The route winds its way past dry-stone buildings, retaining walls, cultivated terraces, ovens, fountains, wash houses and mills: a farming world that remains firmly rooted on the island. This deep connection with rural heritage is reflected in initiatives such as the Rencontres Balanines, created to promote the craft workshops and farms of the Balagne hinterland. It is a way of preserving local know-how and defending it against the homogenisation of fast-paced consumerism, whilst protecting both nature and people.
