Short-term rentals, brass plates in Florence to display the Cin

The National Identification Code Cin - to be compulsorily displayed from 1 January 2025 outside every Italian short-stay tourist accommodation business - in Florence shall be written in black on brass plates measuring no more than 6x2 centimetres in the Unesco area, and 8x2 centimetres in outdoor areas, inside bell pushers where present.

These are the unique criteria for the display of the Code defined by the Municipality of Florence in agreement with the Superintendency, which the owners of short-term tourist rental activities will have to comply with from the date of entry into force of the obligation to display the Cin set by national law.

The definition of single criteria for the Cin exhibition is one of the points of the 'Sustainable tourism & livable city' decalogue, presented on 12 November by the mayor Sara Funaro and the councillor for tourism and economic development Jacopo Vicini, following the council's approval of the resolution on 'Measures for the management of the physical, social and environmental impact of tourism in the City of Florence'.

"Ten days after the presentation of the decalogue for sustainable tourism, in a city that is increasingly liveable for its citizens, we are ready with a first concrete measure," says Vicini. "The single criteria for displaying the National Identification Codes outside tourist short-term rental businesses are aimed at the decorum of a city as beautiful and rich in historic buildings as ours is. This measure, which was shared with the Superintendency from the very first steps, was put in place quickly thanks to the work of the City Council's tourism department offices'.
