The satellite telecommunication services of Starlink, a subsidiary of Elon Musk's SpaceX company, suffered an interruption for several hours yesterday due to a fault. "Starlink is now largely restored after the network outage, which lasted about two and a half hours. The outage was caused by a malfunction of key internal software services that manage the core network,' Michael Nicolls, Vice President of Starlink Engineering, told X. The company, the world's first satellite telecommunications operator, had reported a few hours earlier on the same social network a fault affecting its customers' communications. According to the Downdetector website, which lists communications failures of numerous operators and online platforms, up to 60,000 reports were made yesterday regarding the Starlink network. Starlink's services, which are based on a constellation of more than 6,000 satellites deployed in low orbit, allow its customers to equip themselves with a terrestrial terminal to use an Internet connection. According to data published by the company in mid-July, Starlink has over 6 million subscribers worldwide.
