Who is Alberto Stefani, the new president of Veneto after Zaia
Stefani has carved out a prominent role for himself in the League in a very short time: suffice it to say that since last year he has also been one of the four deputy federal secretaries of the Carroccio
In a region such as Veneto, governed for 15 years by Luca Zaia, the 33-year-old Alberto Stefani, is the man called upon to take up the 'Doge's' legacy. To the record of youngest deputy ever elected in the lists of the Carroccio (he arrived at the age of 25 in Montecitorio) he now adds that of youngest regional president.
Stefani exults on social media: thank you Veneto
"Thank you Veneti! It was with great emotion that I received the honour of representing you. I feel a strong responsibility and also great energy within me. I want to be clear: I will put people's needs first and I will be president for everyone, even those who did not vote for me. And, together with the forces of the coalition, which I thank, from tomorrow I will already be at work. With eyes and heart only for Veneto,' Stefani said on social media after the victory
Born in Camposampiero (Padua) on 16 November 1992 and raised in another town in the Padua area, Borgoricco, Stefani has carved out a leading role for himself in the League in a very short time: suffice it to say that since last year he has also been one of the Carroccio's four deputy federal secretaries. Identity and territory are his keywords. He has mainly dealt with social issues such as care of the elderly, rights of caregivers, the fight against youth malaise, violence against women and minors. Issues that remain central for him
The league's youth debuts
A graduate in Law from Padua, he is continuing his legal studies, with scientific publications on canon and ecclesiastical law. Stefani joined the Lega when he was just 14 years old: it was love at first sight, in front of a party gazebo. 'It fascinated me, I shared its federalist ideas and I joined,' he recounted.
Youngest Member of the Carroccio
From there, a long series of posts: deputy since 2018 (elected for the first time at the age of 26, he was the youngest deputy ever elected in the ranks of the League), mayor of Borgoricco in 2019, regional commissioner of the party in 2020, secretary of the Liga veneta since 2023, president of the bicameral commission on federalism, deputy federal secretary since September 2024. Stefani enjoys Salvini's full confidence and has excellent relations with Zaia. Of the 'doge', Stefani shares the moderate profile.
