The last weekend of the 2025 summer counter-exodus on the Anas road and motorway network ends today. Over 274 million vehicles passed through along the Anas network from 25 July to 31 August. The roads with the highest number of passages include the A90 Rome Ring Road with about 5 million, 4.5 million on the A91 Rome Fiumicino, more than 4 million on the A2 Mediterranean near Pontecagnano, 3.5 million on the SS148 Pontina near Rome, and 3 million on the SS15 'Tangenziale di Catania' and the SS36 'del lago di Como e dello Spluga'..

Increases in mobility at the beginning of the week

This last week of the summer exodus of 2025 was characterised by increases in the average traffic during the beginning of the week and then declining from Thursday to Sunday. This unusual trend, which is evident when comparing with both the same week last year (with changes between +1.7% and -2.6%) and with the previous week (+1.1% and -2.4%), suggests that a significant share of returns occurred already in the first days of the week, between Monday and Wednesday. The effect of the share of returns that had already taken place was an increase in traffic in metropolitan areas, with daily increases between 5% and 12%, and a reduction in mobility to seaside resorts, with an average decrease between -4.5% and -10%. The same trend was observed this morning on infrastructures under Anas management.
