"The real issue of stability and the problem for businesses is uncertainty. It is true that we need to give Trump time, as some have said these days, but the problem is that companies do not have time'. This was said by the president of Confindustria, Emanuele Orsini, speaking at the 54th edition of the Young Entrepreneurs of Confindustria conference, underway in Rapallo. 'When companies need months to create and develop a product, how do they sign a contract if there are no certainties? So you have to be quick,' Orsini said.
Orsini: 'Strong actions are needed, and do them now'
"We need strong actions, we need to take them now," stressed the Confindustria president. "With all the stones we have on our backs, just think if we take them off... we could really reach 700 billion" in exports, he recalled, relaunching from the Rapallo conference of the Young Entrepreneurs the request for "an extraordinary industrial plan for the country with a three-year target, even better if it were five", an "8 billion plan for the next three years". A 'strong action plan' is needed, and to support businesses 'simple and easy-to-use measures are needed'. "I have made it clear many times," he reiterated, "it is not that I want at the end of the year to chase after the budget law made by previous years, I believe that today adjusting the measures of the past is a mistake".
"Productivity increase is business merit, make it continue"
The president of Confindustria recalled that 'there are small increases in productivity and it is thanks to companies. Productivity is made by companies and we must ensure that it continues to increase'.
"Don't politicise nuclear issue, that would be problematic"
.As for the nuclear issue, 'if it becomes politicised it becomes a problem, social responsibility is needed, even of the parties there are chapters that either all go together or they will not be done,' stressed Orsini. For the president of Confindustria, it is an issue of 'national security. Energy is one of the fundamental chapters'.
"I hope trade unions will stand by us on some issues"
."We hope. We are there. I hope we will all be there. We are expecting them,' was Orsini's comment on the meeting with union leaders scheduled for 26 June. A confrontation that 'has been missing for years,' he added. 'We must start from the things that can unite us,: safety at work is a chapter that cannot see us divided. Then also on the issue of bargaining and the representativeness of trade unions and employers. Training is another fundamental chapter. On certain chapters such as the challenges in Europe' for industry, the industrialist leader added, 'I have never seen the unions on our side, on issues that are fundamental for us. Defending companies means defending jobs, families. And like on the housing plan. I hope that the unions will be with us on these issues'. Can we start from four shared points? 'I hope there are more than four, but I start from the points that divide us the least, from issues that are higher and concern everyone,' Orsini replied.
