Business intelligence to rationalise company management, have real-time control of all flows, identify pockets of inefficiency. All thanks to a management control system based on business intelligence on a Microsoft Power BI platform. A model that in Sicily, in the wine sector, has been launched by Tasca D'Almerita, the historic winery with its headquarters in Palermo: if it is not the first in the sector to adopt this model, it is very close. A model created thanks to a perfect triangulation between Sicilian companies or companies with a Sicilian presence: Tasca, in fact, and then the Palermo-based company Lookout and Kubisco, a company of which the Palermo-born Francesco Bergamaschi, a consultant and business trainer in business intelligence and business analytics and contract professor at the University of Bologna, is a member.

A front for innovation in a sector, such as the wine sector (but not only of course), still anchored to tradition and to a cumbersomeness that does not always help business efficiency. And it is precisely in order to spread this business management model more and more that on Monday 22 April at the Sicindustria Palermo headquarters, a conference will be held, also sponsored by the Order of Chartered Accountants of Palermo and Caltanissetta: the objective, the organisers explain, is to make entrepreneurs and consultants understand the importance of equipping themselves with these tools. "Until 2023," says Alberto Tasca, CEO of the historic Sicilian company, "we were using our own management model with business intelligence focused exclusively on the sales sector. Now we have taken a further step forward that allows us to have a clear idea in real time of all areas of the company, but also allows us to reason about possible scenarios and thus change strategy or redesign it'. In short, a tool that is part of a strategy based entirely on innovation that the Palermo-based company has been pursuing for years: "For us," explains Tasca d'Almerita's managing director Fabio Tornatore, "it is now a fundamental tool: the graphic representation, simple and intuitive, is the result of a complex analysis of all company aspects.

A key role was and is played by LookOut, a company with its registered office in Rome and operational headquarters in Carini in the province of Palermo, an innovative start-up founded in 2011 by Gaetano Lombardo and Michele Mazzola, who is its general manager. "We have many customers in the agri-food and wine sector," explains Michele Mazzola, "but in this case we have gone a long way with considerable benefits, we think, for business management. In this case, in fact, we are not dealing with a simple management software but something that goes beyond just thinking, just to give an example, of the possibility of controlling industrial costs in real time. There are 450 modules integrated with the company systems that give a clear picture of what is happening in the company that can also be consulted remotely'. Another step forward, meanwhile, but the prospect is now that of integration with artificial intelligence.
