A formula that works and keeps up with the times. Audi renews the recipe for the A3 Sportback with the introduction of a plug-in hybrid version in the range with two power levels, 204 and 272 hp, and an autonomy of around 140 kilometres (Wltp homologation cycle). A model that arrives at the end of the year and anticipates the introduction of the Audi A3 Allstreet TFSI, a plug-in variant of the urban crossover, and, to follow, the PHEV declinations of the new Audi A5 and new Audi Q5 arriving in the first quarter of 2025.
Rechargeable hybrid system novelty
.The plug-in hybrid system of the Audi A3 Sportback Tfsi is the same as that tested in other Volkswagen Group models such as the Volkswagen Golf, Passat and Tiguan.
Also on the Ingolstadt compact car, the 1.4-litre Tfsi powertrain was replaced by the 1.5-litre Tfsi in two power outputs: the 40 version with 204 hp and the 45 variant with 272 hp. The 85 kW (116 hp) electric motor has also been increased by 7 hp. Lastly, the battery now boasts a capacity of 17.9 kWh net, almost double that of the previous generation, and thus achieves an autonomy of more than 140 kilometres in electric mode, 141 km to be exact, more than double that of the previous generation, which reached 66 km.
The 40 version boasts an overall torque of 350 Nm and a top speed of 225 km/h while the 45 variant achieves a maximum torque of 400 Nm and a speed of 237 km/h.
