"The League has prepared a bill to amend Article 67 of the Constitution. The aim is to avoid changes of coat, which in the last legislature were almost 300'. The announcement comes from the League after the latest change of coat, the third in a few days. After former Fratelli d'Italia member Emanuele Pozzolo, Roberto Vannacci has recruited two more deputies: Roberto Sasso and Edoardo Ziello left the Lega group in the Chamber and switched to Misto. The prelude to the farewell was an amendment to the Ukraine decree - with three signatures - calling for a halt to arms to Kiev. The former general who left the League to found Futuro nazionale, currently an MEP elected in the Lega's lists, left the League while he was deputy secretary.
The proposed rewording of Article 67
In the rewording proposed by the League, Article 67 would be changed as follows: 'Every member of parliament represents the nation and performs his duties with a mandate. Members of Parliament who, at the beginning of their term of office or in the course of the parliamentary term, join a parliamentary group representing a political party or movement other than the one to which they belonged at the time of their election shall forfeit their parliamentary mandate'.
The current Article 67 of the Constitution
The current Article 67 of the Constitution stipulates that 'Each member of parliament represents the nation and exercises his functions without constraint of mandate'. It means that deputies and senators are free to act according to conscience, without constraints dictated by voters or parties.
The case of the symbol
A querelle has opened over the symbol of Futuro nazionale. Because the new party launched by Roberto Vannacci apparently has a name and symbol already registered, but not by the former general. The alarm was raised by Guido Giacometti, president of the 'Mondo al contrario' association, who in a note to Vannacci's 'team' asked them to avoid using the logo in public and social communications. The reason is that 'Futuro nazionale', as shown by Chamber of Commerce registrations, is a trademark registered on 25 February 2011 under the signature of former M5S regional councillor in Abruzzo Riccardo Mercante, who has since passed away. The symbol could, however, be free, because if not renewed it would have expired, as 10 years have passed. Mercante's widow, Marina Caprioni, however, hints that the issue could have legal ramifications: 'I am verifying the situation with my lawyer, in any case my family did not like being associated with a party so far removed from what were Riccardo's political ideas'.
National Future, statute registered
General Roberto Vannacci's party 'was born this morning, it emitted its first wail from a notary of our choice and it is already a great success'. This was said by the founder of Futuro nazionale Roberto Vannacci, on the sidelines of a meeting in Chiavari. 'The symbol for registration was filed on 24 January,' he said. 'Today we registered the party statute at the notary'.
