The municipality with the fewest residents: Morterone, in the province of Lecco: 32 people

According to the Istat report, Morterone, in the province of Lecco, in the heart of Valsassina, is the municipality with the fewest residents: just 32 people. This is actually a confirmation, as Morterone maintains the record of the least populated municipality in the country. Situated in a natural basin at the foot of Mount Resegone, at an altitude of about 1,000 metres above sea level. Morterone can be reached from Bellabio along Provincial Road 63, a scenic and winding road about 16 km long that crosses the Forcella di Olino.
