"There is no time to lose. La Perla's is a complex procedure with new elements that impose, in perspective, also a reasoning for the adjustment of the legislation on extraordinary administration on which we are already working". These are the words with which Minister Adolfo Urso emerged from the meeting convened yesterday at Mimit to address the crisis of the historic Bolognese luxury lingerie brand, downstream of the table for the fashion industry.

These words confirm the need for the two bankruptcy procedures, the Italian and the English one, to converge as quickly as possible in order not to see the chances of relaunching vanish. The commissioners received a dozen expressions of interest in La Perla, relating to both the manufacturing plant and the brand, and the objective shared by all parties - industrial, institutional and trade unions - who met yesterday at Palazzo Piacentini is to arrive as soon as possible at a sale capable of enhancing skills (i.e. the approximately 200 workers remaining in the Bologna plant), assets and a high-end corsetry brand with 70 years of history and worldwide fame.

A positive comment on the outcome of the meeting at Mimit by the social partners and the councillor for Employment of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Vincenzo Colla, was positive: 'In the last technical meetings there was an important new development: the English counterpart showed a very positive attitude, and the agreement between the two procedures, the Italian and the English, is fundamental to solicit the arrival of a serious entrepreneur. A way must be found to economise on the procedures, so as to attract interested parties'.

The commitment made by Minister Urso is to meet again in a month's time, before 20 September, the date of the hearing set by the Court of Bologna, with full willingness to preside over technical sessions to the bitter end starting as early as 10-11 September to bring the Italian and English commissioners (the brand is in fact owned by the London-based La Perla holding) into agreement and to find a synthesis between European and English legislation, which after Brexit no longer recognises EU bankruptcy rules.
