Transport is at risk today, Monday 18 May, due to the 24-hour general strike called by Usb. All public and private sectors are affected, with the exception of air transport. At risk therefore are local and national public transport, school and health.
Underlying the protest was the decision of the Usb to take up 'the appeal launched by the Global Sumud Flotilla'. As explained in a communiqué, among the motivations are 'the war, the genocide in Palestine, the arms race, the attack on international law and the shrinking of democratic spaces impose a qualitative leap in mobilisation'.
Treni
The Fs group staff strike began yesterday, Sunday 17 May, at 9pm and will last until 9pm today. "The strike may result in changes to the service, even before it begins and after it ends," reads the Rfi (Fs group) website. Trenitalia, considering the possible repercussions on the service, invites passengers to 'inform themselves before going to the station'.
Information on connections and active services is available by consulting the Trenitalia App, the Infomobility section of trenitalia.com, the social and web channels of the FS group, the free toll-free number 800892021, as well as at ticket offices and assistance offices in stations, through self-service machines and travel agencies.
Public transport
Strikes are also expected to affect scheduled public transport such as buses, metro and trams in the various cities. As usual during strikes, there will be guaranteed time slots (6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.).
