'Together, these two wonderful Americans will launch a new Manhattan Project'. Donald Trump did not hold back in announcing the appointment of Elon Musk, in partnership with Vivek Ramaswamy, to head the new Department of Government Efficiency. The president-elect went so far as to evoke the Manhattan Project, the secret initiative to develop the atomic bomb in World War II.

Usa, Trump alla sua folla: "Guariremo il nostro Paese"

"The great Musk and the patriot Ramaswamy," Trump explained, "will pave the way for my administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, cut excessive regulations, slash unnecessary spending, and restructure federal agencies essential to the Save America movement."

Atomic bomb on waste

The effect - in the president-elect's intentions - will be that of an atomic bomb on waste that will help his government action: the two will be in charge of a structure that will not be directly part of the government, but will act with full powers in collaboration with the Treasury Department and the US budget managers. 'It will be an external group,' Trump said, 'that will offer the White House advice and guidance on how to drive large-scale structural reforms and create an entrepreneurial approach to government that has never been seen before.

Trump also explained that Musk and Ramaswamy's work must be completed by July 4, 2026: "A smaller, more efficient government will be," he said, "the gift to our country on the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The nominations reward two loyal Trump supporters who come from private industry, two entrepreneurs considered 'visionary and organic' by the Trumpian populist right.

Who are the two loyalists

.

Musk, of South African descent, is the boss of Tesla and the aerospace company SpaceX, as well as the owner of the social media platform X. Ramaswamy, who is of Indian origin, is the founder of a biotechnology and pharmaceutical group: he ran for the Republican presidential nomination against Trump, only to withdraw and endorse the tycoon.

Winds of Change, il trumpiano Ramaswamy: "Salvini simbolo di coraggio"

Musk, the richest man in the world, funded the Republican campaign with $120 million and thrilled the crowds by dancing and shouting on stage alongside Trump until the last rally. He has contracts worth billions of dollars a year with the US government and this will inevitably create a conflict of interest with his new post.

The new structure: Doge

.

The new structure will be called Doge, an acronym for Department of Government Efficiency: the same name as the cryptocurrency Dogecoin promoted by Musk, also for the purchase of Tesla cars.

"We will send shock waves through the system and against anyone involved in government waste, which is a lot of people!" commented Musk, who in recent weeks had promised to cut government spending by $2 trillion.
