The President of the United States Donald Trump has announced new 50 per cent tariffs on Canadian cars and steel, to come into effect in January 2027.
“Canada has been ripping off the United States of America for years. Their absurdly high tariffs on our farmers and agricultural products have made life impossible for these great American patriots and have long created a $60 billion deficit between our two countries. This is unsustainable – and it’s over!” the US President stated on Truth. “From 1 January 2027, tariffs on all cars, lorries – both large and small – automotive components and steel will rise to 50 per cent. If you manufacture in the United States, the tariffs will be zero.”
